- Create your CODE Account and Profile. CODE is an ICS Professional Programs-exclusive online career services platform where students can register for Career Workshops, book career advising appointments, view job listings, access job search tips and resources, view salary data of alumni, etc. Students are encouraged to use CODE as their job search tracking tool, including selecting target companies so that the Career Team can conduct employer outreach accordingly.
- Review CODE Student Toolkit Section 1 for instructions on how to create an account, complete your profile, and access the Resource Library
- Create your account after July 1 using your @uci.edu email address

- Attend 1 of 2 offerings of Intro to CODE & Job Search Prep Info Sessions: These workshops will provide an introduction to career services and the CODE platform which is exclusive to you as a student in one of UCI’s ICS Professional Masters Program. You will also learn how you can best prepare for your forthcoming internship and/or job search.

- Create a Master Resume & Cover Letter & Upload to CODE
- Create an ATS-friendly Master Resume (doc, docx) that highlights your experience and skills. See samples and templates in the CODE Resource Library
- Be prepared to tailor this resume (i.e. create different versions) when applying to specific companies and/or positions during your search.
- Scan your resume(s) through an ATS Resume Scanner and revise resume(s) based on suggestions. Here are resume scanning tools that are helpful:

Note: Employers in CODE will not be able to find you unless you have a resume uploaded in your CODE profile. We encourage you to have an updated resume in your profile at all times throughout the academic year.
- Create a LinkedIn Account, and start building your professional network
- Customize your LinkedIn URL with your first & last name
- Join the new MHCID’s LinkedIn group; approvals to join will begin in August
- Recommended Completion By: Friday, July 2
- Create a Portfolio (if applicable). See options like Webflow or UXfolio to start building a portfolio to showcase notable projects and case studies.

- Begin practicing Technical and Behavioral Interview Questions
- Consider resources listed on “Interviewing” page on CODE Website or interviewing resources in the CODE Resource Library
- For UX: Review and start preparing for the different types of interviews (portfolio review, design challenge, case study, whiteboard, app critique)
